Movement #24 was an experiment in trackig and capturing a type of data which leaves no trace - movement. Tracking fifteen points on a dancer's body as she performed a short movement, her fleeting movements in 3D space were captured and recorded. I then used the two points that represented her hands to generate geometries in a 3D modeling environment.
The sculpture shows the distance between her two hands throughout the entire performance. The result is an abstracted yet detectable 3D form based on human-generated data. Whereas previously the dance would have disappeared, or become intangible, these fleeting movements are now captured.
